Reading the Abbreviations
- S = Standard, D = Daylight (Saving)
- EST = Eastern Standard Time, EDT = Eastern Daylight Time
- Clocks spring forward 1 hour during DST (March–November)
States Split Across Time Zones
Some states have time zone boundaries running through them:
- Indiana — Mostly Eastern; some western counties are Central
- Kentucky — Eastern half is Eastern; western half is Central
- Tennessee — Knoxville area is Eastern; Nashville and Memphis are Central
- Nebraska — Mostly Central; far west is Mountain
- North & South Dakota — Eastern halves are Central; western halves are Mountain
- Kansas — Mostly Central; a few western counties are Mountain
- Texas — Mostly Central; far west (El Paso) is Mountain
- Oregon — Mostly Pacific; a few eastern counties are Mountain
- Idaho — Southern part is Mountain; northern panhandle is Pacific
